Colombian Navy continues to show its decisiveness against the GAO Clan del Golfo (Organized Armed Group). In less than a week, the Pacific Naval Force has managed to capture three of its alleged members and find war material and military accessories, explosives, precursors, and even a boat.
These important results occurred during three simultaneous operations in the department of Chocó.
The first operation took place in the municipality of Apartadó in the municipality of Nuquí. Troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.23 moved to this sector, who with information from Naval Intelligence find an illegal hideout that contained more than two tons of food inside, used to supply members of the criminal group in this country area.
Later, during the searches, a blue and black fiberglass boat was in the same way found. The Niña Majo, which was abandoned in an estuary, was used to carry out criminal operations.
In the same way, in the municipality of Bahía Solano, in the sector known as Playa Potes, the troops attached to the Navy Infantry Brigade No.2, found a complex used to manufacture explosive devices, specifically antipersonnel mines. Among the material found there are 18 explosive devices of 12 kilograms, 17 syringe-type activation fuses, four switch-type activation fuses, a thousand meters of two wire cable and an explosives kit made of soldering iron and tester equipment.
Hours later, in this same sector, the troops found a clandestine hideout that was buried in the middle of the undergrowth, hiding about 300 5.56-millimeter cartridges, an M-16 magazine and a multipurpose vest.
All the material was taken to the municipality of Bahía Solano. Food, ammunition and military accessories material were put into custody of the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, while the boat was put into custody of the Port authority. Meanwhile, the explosives were removed of the area and after complying with the established protocols and procedures, they were destroyed under controlled conditions by a team of the Company of Explosives and Demining No.2.
