The material found would be used to carry out terrorist attacks in the south-west of the country and for the illegal exploitation of mining sites.
Thanks to the work carried out by the military intelligence and through a checkpoint in El Cofre, Cajibío municipality, in the department of Cauca, troops of the Twenty-ninth Brigade and the Mechanized Cavalry Group No.8, of the Third Division of the National Army, in compliance with the Heroes of Freedom Campaign Plan and in a coordinated work with the Transit and Transportation Police, in Cauca, find explosives and captured two individuals.
At approximately 10 a.m. on the Pan-American Highway, the soldiers were carrying out a checkpoint. They made the stop signal to two people who were traveling in a truck, heading to Cali, Valle del Cauca. Upon inspection of the vehicle, they found a double-bottom compartment, where they found approximately 11 kilometers of security fuse, nearly 4,000 non electric detonators and 260 encapsulated explosive emulsion sticks.
The individuals, the car and the explosives were put into custody of the authorities.
