In a coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy and units of the Police Intelligence Section, the capture in Sincelejo of Pedro Jesús Sanabria alias Brazil, accused of executing selective murders, extortions and forced recruitment in the subregion of Los Montes de María took place. This illegal armed group commits crimes in the region and he would be the third in command of the Héroes del Caribe substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
During the operation Jabalí, troops of the Military Gaula of Sucre complying with the search warrant for a property in the Bital neighborhood, in Sincelejo urban area, in the department of Sucre, captured the individual known as Ricardo or Brazil, accused of several crimes, including conspiracy to commit a crime, aggravated homicide and the manufacture, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms.
After almost two months of monitoring and consolidation of information obtained by naval intelligence, the evidence was collected and it was possible to arrest the individual who has a direct criminal relationship with the illegal organization which is the origin of the investigation by the 155th Prosecutor's Office specialized against Criminal Organizations of Barranquilla, in charge of legal operations against the GAO - Clan del Golfo, in the north of Colombia, issuing through the Guarantees Judge of the First Municipal Criminal Court of Riohacha, in the department of La Guajira, the search warrant that led to the successful capture.
In the place, the authorities in the same way found a campaign backpack, a uniform for the exclusive use of the Military Forces, 153 7.62 mm caliber cartridges, three cell phones and a motorcycle.
With the capture of alias Brazil, this Organized Armed Group was directly hit, counteracting the control of strategic zones and routes for narcotics trafficking, directly damaging the entry of resources from illegal activities. In this way, troops strengthen and consolidate security and guarantee non-repetition of crimes in Montes de María region.
