Some of these women have been hit by different factors of violence that united them as a group, but today it is the land that strengthens them as independent and entrepreneurial women thanks to the National Army.
About 15 women of the neighborhoods los Naranjos, Villa Colombia, Urapanes del Río, Atardeceres del Cauca and Las Vegas, wanted to join the project of community gardens that is conducted by the National Army in different sectors of Popayan, Cauca.
These low income women, in search of psychological and economic support, have seen a light of hope in this project, where the important thing is to have the willingness and desire to cultivate the land. Children, Youth, older adults and of course the women leaders, expect in a few months to enjoy the fruits that will fill them with confidence by strengthening the community processes and the life plan of the participants.
Our soldiers of the battalion of support and services for combat No.29 of the twenty-ninth Brigade have been in each of the processes necessary to carry out planting of vegetables. They adapted the terrain and prepared the land to start sowing chard, lettuce, cilantro, chives, parsley, potato and other aromatic plants. It is hoped that in the coming months the fruit of this work and the hope for these brave women will flourish.
The inauguration took place in the framework of the commemoration of July 20, day of the “cry of independence" of our country, where the community joined the National Army in a single voice of thanks.
