The individual would be in charge of buying and selling coca paste and extorting ranchers and palm farmers in the municipalities of Santa Rosa, Simití and San Pablo, south of Bolívar.
In less than a week, soldiers of the Fifth Brigade, Second Division of the National Army, in conjunction with the National Navy, and in coordination with the Police of Magdalena Medio and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney’s General Office, stroke another heavy blow against the GAO ELN, achieving the capture of alias Político, in the urban area of Santa Rosa, south of Bolívar, who would be the alleged ringleader of the finance group of the Heroes y Mártires de Santa Rosa front of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) ELN and was required by the conspiracy crimes for the purpose of drug trafficking.
With five years in the organization, alias Político would have been in charge of the forced recruitment of minors to join the ranks of the GAO ELN; the accumulation of illicit money of the drug trade, illegal mining and extortion of different guilds in southern Bolivar; acquisition of weapons and explosive material; and planning terrorist operations against the Military Forces and Critical Infrastructure of the State. The individual was placed into custody of the judicial authority.
This capture hits the command and control of the aforementioned front and neutralizes the ability to carry out terrorist operations in the municipalities of Cantagallo, San Pablo, Simití and Santa Rosa del Sur, south of Bolivar.
The National Army continues its operation against the GAO ELN and maintains military area control operations in the municipalities under its jurisdiction to attack threat factors and provide security.
