With this new blow to drug trafficking estimated at more than $ 12 million dollar , the Pacific Naval force exceeds the 33 tons of marijuana found in 2020.
The effective control posts in the sea conducted by the units of the Colombian Navy through the Pacific naval force led to the finding of about three tons of marijuana, which would be destined for Central America, in two operations, in the department of Valle del Cauca.
The first finding was made in the middle of a maritime interception operation, in the area of Punta Aji, Valle del Cauca, when units of the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura detected a Go Fast type boat traveling at high speeds and ignoring calls made by the crew members of the Colombian Navy.
After several minutes of pursuit, the boat manned by a Colombian and five Costa Ricans was stopped by the units, who proceeded to inspect it, finding inside several bags containing rectangular packages pressed and packed, with substances that appeared to be drugs.
The sacks, the boat and the individuals, were taken to the dock of the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura, where members of the Technical Research Corps -CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) conducted the approved preliminary identification test to the substances leaving positive result for 1,326 kilograms of marijuana.
In the same way, guided by Naval Intelligence, in the sector of Bocas De Cajambre, Valle del Cauca, a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Coast Guard of Buenaventura, which was carrying out sea control operations, detected another Go Fast boat manned by two Costa Ricans and a Colombian. During the interception, the individuals left the sacks in the water. At the time of the search, the crew found 49 sacks with 2,284 rectangular packages, which turned out to be 1,142 kilograms of marijuana and 150 packages with 150 kilograms of cocaine.
The narcotic substances were put into custody of the authorities together with those captured, who will be liable for the offences of trafficking, manufacture or transport of narcotic drugs.
