In development of military operations carried out in the region of El Catatumbo, aimed to neutralize the problem of drug trafficking, troops of Task Force Vulcano, with the support of the Drug Trafficking Combat Battalion No. 1, jointly with the Colombian Air Force and in coordination with the National Police, they dismantled in recent hours five illegal structures used for the production of coca base paste, and two caches of illegal supplies that belong to the Front Luís Enrique León Guerra of the Organized Armed Group GAO-ELN.
The military operations were conducted in rural areas of Caño Negro and Bocas de San Miguel, in the municipality of Tibú, Norte de Santander, where five laboratories for the production of coca base paste and two illegal caches, which stored inside about 4,000 gallons of gasoline, 440 gallons of DIESEL, 1,375 kilograms of solid supplies and about 80 kilograms of coca base paste, were found.
In the same way, during the operations, troops found two rudimentary presses, four precipitate systems, two drying tables, three microwave ovens and six drainers.
These illegal structures, that were used for the production and marketing of illicit substances to different drug cartels, were valued at approximately 392 million pesos, an important economic lost by the Organized Armed Group GAO-ELN.
By 2020, the Vulcano Task Force has found 101 laboratories for the production of coca base paste, which were hidden in El Catatumbo region.
The Second Division of the National Army will continue operations that will counter the problem of drug trafficking and other factors of instability present in this area of the country. It will support the security and defense of the inhabitants of Norte de Santander.
