In a joint and coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy, the National Army, the National Police and the Attorney General's office, it was possible to capture alias "Muelas“, member of the Organized Gang-GDO – “los Mexicanos", in the sector of San Rafael De Negua, municipality of Quibdo, in the Department of Chocó.
Thanks to information provided by the citizen participation network, it was possible to confirm the presence of this individual in the municipality, as far as troops of the River Battalion of Navy Infantry no. 16, the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Chocó and National Police units attached to the Joint Task Force Titan, carried out his capture.
Alias "Muelas", apparently had a criminal experience of ten years in the criminal structure, where he was allegedly the coordinator of extortions and was responsible for forced displacements in different neighborhoods of the municipality of Quibdó-Department of Chocó. In the same way, as second in command in the area, he carried out criminal orders of alias "Samper", the main head of this criminal organization in the region; he as one of the five most wanted by the authorities in the Department of Chocó.
The detainee was put into custody of the authorities for prosecution for the offences of conspiracy to commit a crime and aggravated extortion.
With this result, the finances of criminal groups are heavy hit and possible operations against civilians and Military Forces are neutralized, contributing to the reduction of the crime of extortion in the municipality of Quibdó.
