The Colombian Air Force, the Army and the National Police arrived in El Socorro Village, in the hamlet La Granja, in Ituango municipality, Antioquia, to recover two hectares of forest, which were being used for the illegal exploitation of mining sites, by the residual organized armed group, Gao-r, Estructura 18.
This criminal structure, which was sending gold to countries such as Panama and the United States, will no longer receive approximately 200 million pesos per week, derived from illegal activity. It was in the same way possible to find and destroy two excavators and an engine, the value of which is about 700 million pesos.
This operation undermines the illegal activities of GAO-r E18 and weakens the transnational links of illegal mining, from which they were profiting to finance their criminal activity.
