After conducting the respective judicial procedure to the lifeless body of the individual neutralized in the fight where was captured alias Álvaro Boyaco, the Institute of Legal Medicine established that he was Carlos Andrés Cortes Polania, known in the criminal world as alias Fercho, Chirujas or Barbie.
Troops of the Joint Task Force Omega, killed the head of hitmen of the Estructura Jorge Briceño Suárez. He was also in charge of the security of alias Álvaro Boyaco, who was injured in the combat in the village of Bocanas del Perdido, rural area of the municipality of La Macarena, Meta.
Alias Fercho, Chirujas or Barbie, had a criminal background of more than 5 years in the extinct FARC. For the year 2014 entered as a member of the militias, later becomes a guerrilla of the Frente 40 and since 2019 was an active member of the group of alias Álvaro Boyaco. He also was in charge of killings and cars theft.
This individual actively participated in the planning of terrorist attacks against the Military Forces; conducting criminal intelligence in order to threaten the inhabitants of the region and killed under order of alias Álvaro Boyaco. He was in charge of collecting the money for this structure, as product of extortion and drug trafficking.
Alias Fercho, Chirujas or Barbie, had arrest warrant 00018 for the crime of murder protected person (article 135 of the Criminal Code), terrorism (article 343 of the Criminal Code), murder (article 103 of the Criminal Code), manufacture, trafficking, carrying, or possession of firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition (article 365 of the Criminal Code) and association to commit crimes (article 340 of the Penal Code).
With its neutralization, the terrorist projections of this criminal structure are weakened, as well as its intentions to strengthen armed capacity. The criminal power of the Estructure Jorge Briceño Suárez decreases progressively in the Departments of Meta and Caquetá.
In the same way, this neutralization reduces the forced and illicit recruitment of minors; promotes the loss of control of the collection of money from drug trafficking and extortion directed by alias Gentil Duarte and Calarcá; causes the decrease of the activities of mass organization, in order to strengthen the social base that helps to reactivate militias of the former FARC.
More than eight days ago was captured alias Álvaro Boyaco. Due to his state of health still in a medical center in Florencia, Caquetá, where he is guarded by the National Army with the aim of guaranteeing the Colombian people, through the administration of justice, the truth and reparation process for the crimes and illegal operations committed for more than 15 years within the illegal armed organization.
