In compliance with the agreements between the Ministry of Defense and local authorities, surveillance missions still being carried out on Isla Salamanca.
The National Natural Park Isla Salamanca has been damaged by many forest fires in recent years, which have caused great environmental impact, since they deteriorate the biodiversity that lives in this nature reserve, and also disturb those who inhale this air.
Fulfilling the strategy established between the Governorate of Magdalena and the Ministry of Defense, the Air Combat Command No.3 aircraft have constantly monitored the island, taking aerial images, which are used to locate the risky areas and the areas that were hit in previous fires. They are also used to identify new settlements near the park.
