After a Security Council chaired in the municipality of Sincelejo, Sucre, the Minister of Defense, Diego Molano, along the Military and Police High Commands, and other local authorities, announced that the National Police is providing a reward of up to USD$113,000 to anyone who make available information that led to the capture of aliases Cherimoya and Osama.
"Aliases Cherimoya and Osama are the alleged members of the criminal subgroup Roberto Vargas Gutiérrez of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) Clan del Golfo. A reward of up to USD$28,000 is also offered for information that led to the capture of the murderers of our police officers in the municipality of Guaranda and Caucasia", Minister said.
The head of the Ministry of Defense said that the Colombian Navy has already deployed 40 men of the Elite Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) to join the operational effort against extortion in the departments of Bolívar, Córdoba and Sucre.
On the other hand, the General Command of the Military Forces initialized the plan Me Voy Para El Pueblo, with the aim of strengthening military presence in the municipalities of La Mojana.
In the same way, Molano highlighted two important operational results of the National Police, such as the capture of alias El Doctor, alleged ringleader of the Luis José Solano Sepúlveda front of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) ELN, in Sincelejo.
"This individual would have replaced alias Ratón, who was neutralized on January 23, 2021. In addition, he was in charge of ordering, coordinating and executing extortions to traders, ranchers and miners in the municipalities of Barranco de Loba, San Martín de Loba, Altos del Rosario, Norosí, Puerto Rico and Tiquisio", the Minister explained.
He also reported the capture of 8 people, alleged members of the criminal group known as Los Hijos del Pueblo de Dios, in Barranquilla and in the municipalities of Soledad, Magangué, and Sincelejo.
"He is accused of kidnapping the doctor and rancher Fabio Hernández Salom, on January 8”, concluded the Minister of Defense.
