The National Personnel Recovery Center alerted crews to rescue a minor in medical emergency, which was attended by a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter.
After the request for support made by the Kogui Malayo arhuaco reservation, in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the Colombian Air Force carried out an emergency evacuation, with medical personnel, supported by rescuers of the Air Combat Command No.3 and the Air Combat Command crew No.5, carried out the evacuation maneuver of the minor accompanied by his relatives.
The Indigenous child had different health complications due to snake bite in one of his legs, which is why this transfer was carried out, with the aim of transporting him to the city of Santa Marta to be assisted by IPS Gounawindua (health center).
This operation carried out by the Air Force required the expertise of the crew, who searched for more than 24 hours, the community in the mountains.
The well-being of Indigenous communities will continue to be one of the premises of the Colombian military forces, who will provide support to their needs as soon as possible, in order to guarantee the right to health and preserve life.
