The General Maritime Directorate, Dimar, presents a positive report after the end of the Easter season in the Colombian Pacific, where the Maritime Authority had all its technical and human resources to ensure safety in navigation and human life at sea, in addition to supporting the economic revival of the country through tourism, after the emergency decreed by the National Government due to COVID-19.
14,375 people were transported on board 1,227 ships on the Pacific Coast.
The Puerto de Buenaventura Authority reported the transportation of 11,394 people, in 664 boats, who set sail for La Bocana, Piangüita, Piangüa Grande, Magüipi, Juanchaco, Ladrilleros and La Barra, of the tourist pier of the district.
The control operations and the constant accompaniment led the Maritime Authority to report Safe activities with zero accidents or situations that put human life at risk at sea; an infringement note was given to a boat for violating the rules of Merchant navigation.
In Tumaco, 955 people were reported to be transported on board 79 boats and in Bahía Solano, visits amounted to 1,765 people transported on board 472 boats.
In the same way, in Guapi 261 people were transported on board 12 boats, this figure includes people who moved to Gorgona Island, which is the only destination with a tourist vocation of the Port Authority of Guapi.
This transportation was conducted with the permanent accompaniment of inspectors of the Maritime Authority who, in coordination with the District Mayor, Navy of Colombia and National Police, who verified the documentation, the good condition of the boats, and the bearing of the safety elements for navigation, the maximum capacity on beaches, the optimal implementation of biosecurity protocols and the care and protection of human life at sea and the marine environment.
The General Maritime Directorate will continue to work in coordination with local authorities, with the aim of further contributing to the economic revival of the tourist destination of Buenaventura; furthermore, it sends an invitation to visitors and commerce groups to continue complying with and adhering to all the safety measures given, as well to always report any suspected situation.
