Coast Guard units of the Colombian Navy in control and surveillance patrols in the Magdalena River area, provided security to the community of sailors, including two citizens, who since last April 13, began a tour by this tributary, one of them in a kayak type boat and another swimming, as a symbol of protest against fracking in Colombia and also against water pollution.
Since then, until Saturday, May 22, they had traveled 1,400 kilometers, the day they arrived in the municipality of Sitio Nuevo, from where they began the journey to the city of Barranquilla.
Respecting their right to protest, the units of the coast Guard Station in Barranquilla, in coordination with the staff of fire of that municipality monitored the time that, in coordination with the maritime authority, in order to make the supports required, taking into account the distance traveled by the two citizens.
