Over two days, 1,450 medical treatments were carried out for these people.
The little ones received clothes and toys.
The Navy of Colombia through the Naval School Cadets Almirante Padilla, and in coordination with the Foundation Unidos, Mutualser EPS, the Administrative Department of Public Health – DADIS, Family Wellbeing institute, the University Libre and COMPAS, conducted the Activity to Support the Development called Christmas with Heart Blue to provide State medical assistance to the residents of the neighborhood El Zapatero, Cartagenina, Callejon Iberia and Gustavo Lemaitre, of the Historic Municipality and the Northern Caribbean in Cartagena.
The activity took place during two days in the facilities of the Fernando de la Vega School, Almirante Padilla headquarters. “With the hand of several institutions (...) we are coming up with a number of medical services, recreation, and priority assistance, there will be distribution of medicines, so that we can continue... giving this assistance to these communities that are so important for us,” said the rear admiral Javier Jaimes Pinilla, Director of the Naval School Cadets.
Hundreds of young people, older adults and children attended the invitation by the participating institutions in search of medical assistance in different specialties.
300 cases were attended in the area of general medicine and 50 in psychology; 500 minors were evaluated in pediatrics; 250 people received oral health guidance and dental hygiene kits; 150 people received evaluation in optometry; and the vaccination scheme was followed up on 200 children.
Care included prescription and dispensing of medications, as well as referrals for continuity of cases. “Thank you for remembering all of us, for having this campaign so beautiful given that sometimes there are people to whom is not so easy to go to a doctor and take advantage of these campaigns,” said Keity Anaya Galván, a resident of the El Zapatero neighborhood who took her two children to access pediatric services.
The activity took place in a real space of social integration where, in addition, playful activities were carried out to promote healthy coexistence; training on ting care of the environment took place and clothes and toys were distributed for the children.
