Just as in other countries there is the National Veterans Agency and the Ministry of Veterans, in Colombia the institutionalization to provide support to veterans was materialized.
This is the Department of Veterans and Inclusive Rehabilitation that was created within the vice-ministry of Veterans and the Defence Sector Business Group, following the restructuring of the Ministry of National Defence.
It was published last Monday, in the Fourth Intersectors team of Veterans, chaired by the director of the Administrative Department of the Presidency of the Republic, (DAPRE) Víctor Muñoz and the Defense minister Diego Molano Aponte, accompanied by the delegates of the Council of Veterans, and various officials of the National Government, producing the development of one of the campaign promises of President Ivan Duque.
Today, within the Defense sector, veterans are already represented, so Minister Molano announced that the retired general, Alberto Sepúlveda, will be in charge of this direction.
For his part, General Sepúlveda, director of the new Directorate of Veterans and Inclusive Rehabilitation, said that he will form a work team to coordinate with other ministries and organizations so that the Veteran Law becomes a success and meets the expectations of all.
At this meeting, the benefits to which veterans have access were materialized.
“The scholarship program, more than 800 Veterans are part of the SENA courses, more than 3 thousand disabled people, already have this income,” said the head of the ministry of Defense.
At the same time, other benefits were announced such as: preferential airline lines, discounts in all museums nationwide.
“We continue to work so that this Law materializes in benefits, support and recognition to all the heroes of the homeland,” was the message of Minister Molano to all veterans.
