Thanks to the cooperation agreement conducted by Colombia and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a staff of the Defense Education Improvement Program (DEEP) visited the Marco Fidel Suárez Military Aviation School, EMAVI, alma mater of the Colombian Air Force Officers, accompanied by Brigadier General Edgar Mauricio Falla, Head of the Aeronautical and Space Education Headquarters.
This visit was carried out with the purpose of providing practical support adapted to each NATO partner country through teaching staff and the elaboration of programs, promoting defense capacity and contributing to the achievement of the objectives established in the bilateral cooperation programs conducted by NATO and the different countries.
Brigadier general Andres Guzman Morales, director of the Military School of Aviation, and the lieutenant-colonel Yadira Cardenas, Commander of the Academic Group, introduced the academic programs provided by the EMAVI and the strategies used for the comprehensive training of the Cadets and Ensigns including bilingualism, use of information Technologies and communications, instructions on cross-cutting Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, ethics and leadership, skills-based management model, development of formative research, internationalization, among other relevant topics.
During their tour by the Unit, they appreciated the facilities of the Cadets Group, the Academic Campus, Computer and Mechanical Engineering Laboratories among others, in addition to the flight simulators where the pilots of the Colombian Air Force are trained.
These spaces have become part of modernization protocols to standardize training processes, exchange information and knowledge on a permanent basis and strengthen cooperation with Colombia, facilitating the access of military Forces to a portfolio of NATO instructions and training.
