The heroic city will receive five sailboats from different countries at Naval Logistics Base No.1 ARC Bolívar of the Colombian Navy, in the Bocagrande sector (Cartagena); which will be part of the Latin American Sail Cartagena de Indias 2022 Sailing meeting from May 21 to 26.
In its fifth edition, the facilities of the Navy of Colombia will open for the first time its doors to the appointment of the Ships to School Almirante Juan Bautista Cambiaso from Dominican Republic, Capitan Miranda of Uruguay, Cisne Branco of Brazil, Cuauhtémoc, Mexico, and the ARC Gloria of Colombia; where Cartageneros and tourists will be able to know the culture and customs of our ships visitors.
Known as Sail Cartagena de Indias 2022, this great event is part of Velas Latinoamérica 2022, in which the large sailing ships, make a tour that began in February in the city of Rio de Janeiro, through the port of Punta del Este and Montevideo (Uruguay), Mar de Plata (Argentina) Punta Arenas, and Valparaíso (Chile), Callao (Peru), in may in Guayaquil (Ecuador), and Balboa (Panama), where after crossing the Canal will come to Cartagena and later set sail to Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), Curaçao and completed the journey in Veracruz (Mexico). This great regatta that began on February 13 in Brazil and will last until June 28 in Veracruz, Mexico, is a crossing that included 12 ports of 11 countries of the American continent.
This meeting, which is held every four years, was born on the occasion of the celebration of the bicentenary of the independence of South America with the leadership of the Navies of Chile and Argentina, and other Latin American nations. It becomes an environment of projection and positioning of the tourist and commercial sectors of Colombia and the heroic city, taking into account that it is the opportunity to share experiences at the sea, and at the same time show the attractions of Cartagena, tighten and strengthen the bonds of partnership between the different Navies and the people of the participating countries.
Get to know a little about the visiting cultures
From Sunday 22 to Thursday 26 may, the boats will be open to the public; the cartageneros, tourists and fans of great ships, maritime and nautical groups will be able to know and to share with more than 1,200 sailors who are part of the crews of these ships; who as ambassadors of their countries will show their culture and their customs.
