Within the framework of the Democracy Plan 2022, the Southern Naval Force will provide security in 11 municipalities and two non-municipalized areas of the departments of Amazonas, Caquetá, Guaviare, Meta and Putumayo.
The Colombian Navy, through the Southern Naval Force, intensifies its deployment of operational resources on the rivers of the Colombian Amazon, with 588 men and women working to increase mobility and provide security to voters during the upcoming presidential elections this Sunday, May 29.
The units attached to the Navy Infantry Brigade No.3 and the Group of coast Guard of the Amazon, made a permanent control and accompany citizens in this activity, in order to work for the right to vote in and attend the 26 posts, and 185 tables of vote in Puerto Alegría, El Encanto, Puerto Nariño, and Leticia in the department of Amazonas; Santa Fe del Caguán, Remolino del Caguán, Curillo, Solita, the Maná and Solano counties in the department of Caquetá; Puerto Arturo and Puerto Armadillo in the department of Guaviare; Vista Hermosa, Puerto Rico and La Macarena in the department of Meta; Puerto Leguizamo, La Tagua, Sencella and Mecaya in the department of Putumayo.
According to the latest update of the electoral census carried out by the National Civil Status Office, the electoral potential in the Colombian Amazon region is 1,456,158 voters, which will have 573 positions and 3,962 polling stations to exercise the right to vote.
