Abundant war material, explosives, military and communications accessories were found by troops of the Colombian Navy and the National Army, attached to the Joint Task Force Titan, in an illegal hideout in the middle of the jungle in Carmen del Darién – department of Chocó.
Thanks to the search and area control operations carried out daily by members of the Military Forces and after arduous inspections with specialized troops and anti-explosive dogs, it was possible to find the material in the El Tesoro village, in the department of Chocó.
A grenade launcher, three pistols of different calibers, more than 10 pieces for machinegun and rifles, a magazine for rifles, an anti-personnel mine, 100 meters of detonating cord, 50 meters of fuse, one thousand grams of acid lead and 300 electric detonators were found by troops.
In the illegal hideout that was underground, military accessories and communications were in the same way found, including 180 identification bracelets alluding to the Carlos Vázquez substructure, more than 560 garments and accessories of exclusive use of the Military Forces. In the same way, 20 communication radios, 46 radio chargers, and five batteries were found by troops.
According to the investigations by the authorities, it is presumed that this war material belonged to the Carlos Vázquez substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, who would use these elements to attack on members of the Military Forces and civilians.
The material was deactivated and after complying with the established protocols and procedures, it was destroyed in the area, under controlled conditions by members of the Joint Task Force Titan.
