- About 11,600 men and women of the Military Forces showed their Resources in their different specialties.
The traditional parade of the Military Forces and the National Police, in commemoration of Independence Day, returned to the streets of the capital city after two consecutive years of not taking place due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The national parade took place in Bogotá, along Boyacá Avenue, where about 11,600 men and women of the National Army, the Colombian Navy, the Colombian Air Force and the National Police showed their Resources in their different specialties.
During this military parade, tribute and recognition were paid to the soldiers of land, sea, air, and the police officers of Colombia, with the Order of Boyacá, the highest decoration that the National Government awards to military and citizens according to their service to the homeland.
Before President of Colombia, Iván Duque, the presidential guard began the military and Police parade of July 20 honoring the President, the commander of the Fifth Division of the National Army, General Óscar Reinaldo Rey Linares, requested authorization from President Duque to start the parade.
“I request your authorization to start the military and police parade in commemoration of the 212 years of the cry of independence, with legality, entrepreneurship and equity, in honor of the Colombian people,” asked the commander of the Fifth Division of the Army.
Local and tourists attended the parade for cheering the men and women of Military Forces and the National Police. In the same way, through social networks and web sites of the Ministry of Defense, the General Command of the Military Forces and other official accounts of the Military Forces, hundreds of Colombians, followed the transmission of this patriotic celebration that began about 10:40 in the morning of this Wednesday, at the Shopping center Parque La Colina, at the north of Bogotá.
