Alias Canibal would serve as a group ringleader of the Organized Gang El Mesa, and would be in charge of expanding drug trafficking and illicit income in the north of Antioquia.
In this military operation, five more individuals were arrested and a minor was recovered.
In the rural area of the municipality of Yarumal, Antioquia, National Army troops arrested for the third time alias Canibal or El Feo, alleged ringleader of the El Mesa Organized Gang group, accused of having alliances with the GAO-r E 36 to expand the drug trafficking business and illicit income in the municipalities of Yarumal, Ituango, San Andrés de Cuerquia and other sectors of the north of the Antioquia department.
In the military operation, carried out in two phases, five more individuals were arrested, including the alleged girl partner of alias Canibal and his security man, known as alias El Zorro. In addition, a minor was recovered. The individuals were found by troops with rifles, submachineguns, grenades, pistols, ammunition of different calibers and multipurpose vests.
Alias Canibal would have a criminal record of almost three decades. In his experience he would have served as the ringleader of the organized gang (GDO) El Tapo, in the municipality of Bello, a place where the GDO El Mesa and Pachelly are in the same way concentrated, with whom he would have criminal links.
He is accused of murdering two Gaula agents (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), in 2002, he escaped of the Bellavista prison in 2004, he was in the most wanted list in 2005, the year in which he in the same way demobilized as an alleged member of the Metro Bloc of the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC). He was prosecuted in the frame of the justice and peace law and was released in October 2015, returning to illegality. In 2018 he was arrested again along with a group of alleged members of the GAO-r-36. To date, alias Canibal would be committing crimes at the service of the GDO El Mesa, in alliance with the GAO-r E 36.
The arrested and the items found were put into custody of the competent authorities for judicial process. The minor was handed over to the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute for the restoration of his rights.
