In the framework of the 103 years of the Colombian Air Force, FAC, one of the first female military pilots of our Institution, Lieutenant Colonel Luz Stella Franco Yepez, arrived at the Marco Fidel Suárez Military Aviation School, to lead with temperance and wisdom the 567 Cadets and Alféreces, future Officers of the FAC.
In the 89 years of existence of the alma mater of the officers, it is the first time that an Officer will command the Cadet Group of the Military Aviation School, a challenge that the Pilot specialty Officer assumes with all the responsibility and commitment that this position demands.
Lieutenant Colonel Franco, married and mother of two children, was born in Fresno- Tolima, she has been serving the Institution for more than 20 years, she is a member of the Officers Course No.73, (first course to integrate women to the regular course in 1997), is part of the first 7 women pilots that the Colombian Air Force graduated in 2000, she was the first woman to fly the T-41 Mescalero training aircraft alone in its training phase at the EMAVI, and to be the Battle Commander of the Command and Control Center of the Colombian Air Force.
She completed 5,450 flight hours that have led her to obtain great experience in operations and missions of air interception, intelligence, combat, instruction and training, special operations, personnel and cargo transportation. She in the same way stood out as a pilot of the Legacy-Embraer 135BJ aircraft in special transport mission.
She graduated from the Marco Fidel Suárez Military Aviation School as an Aeronautical Administrator, and she also have a postgraduate specialization in National Security and Defense and holds a Master's Degree in Military Aeronautical Sciences.
