- During October, the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) units strengthened the Intervention Plan in places with the greatest loss due to the crime of extortion. The objective is to carry out prevention activities against this problem, training 4,666 people, especially in 10 departments of the country.
-In the departments of Boyacá, Sucre, Santander, Norte de Santander, Valle, Huila, Putumayo, the department of Chocó, the Caribean and Buenaventura, direct and indirect prevention activities were carried out jointly and in coordination with local, regional and national authorities, as well as door-to-door visits.
With 276 workshops, the accompaniment to 79 events, the direct contact with 21,532 people, the publication on 35 written media, 93 talks on radio stations, 207 publications on the twitter network, 8 808 radio messages, 69 056 brochures distributed, 144 checkpoints, 1 148 plan activities, 112 information stands, 7 410 checkpoints and 149 activities of loudspeakers day and night the activity has been successful.
What is the objective of these activities? That the Military Gaula can get closer and closer to the civilians to issue security recommendations, speak about the national 147, give people confidence to report this crime and open a range of possibilities to prevent being victims of this problem and get more and more Colombians who join the campaign I do not pay, I denounce, framed in the Perseo Plan of the General Command of the Military Forces.
It should be noted that during this period the 32 Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) units arrested 146 criminals in 68 tactical missions, 120 were for the crime of extortion, 9 for kidnapping and 17 for other crimes. In the same way, the people didn’t pay for extortion about $320,000,000 COP, about USD 71,090.
