In a decisive operation against drug trafficking in the Colombian Pacific, units of the Colombian Navy, together with the National Army and in coordination with the Attorney General's Office, managed to find and destroy in controlled conditions two semi-submarines and 10 laboratories used for the production of coca paste, belonging to the FARC dissidents.
In rural area of the municipality of Tumaco - Nariño, troops of the Navy Infantry Brigade No.4, attached to the Joint Stabilization and Consolidation Task Force Hercules and the Command Against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats, in the middle of a mangrove area found two semi-submarines 22 meters long that would have the capacity to transport about four tons of narcotic substances each and would be ready to be loaded with such substances. These illegal devices would belong to the Organized Armed Group of the Western Bloc Alfonso Cano.
In parallel, in this same area, troops of the Navy River Battalion No.40, found eight laboratories that inside contained 1,428 gallons of coca base in process, 277 kilograms of macerated coca leaf, 608 gallons of liquid precursors and 284 kilograms of solid precursors, which would belong to the FARC dissident group Iván Ríos, which commits crimes in this southwestern area of the country.
On the other hand, in the municipality of Timbiquí - Cauca, troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.42, found two laboratories used for the production of coca paste base, in which 1,132 gallons of liquid precursors and 155 kilograms of solid precursors were found by troops.
These constructions, which would have the capacity to process up to 10 tons of narcotic substances per month, were destroyed in controlled conditions at the scene, complying with the established protocols.
With the destruction of the two semi-submarines and the ten laboratories, the logistical and financial muscle is weakened by more than 55 million dollars that will no longer be received by the Residual Organized Armed Groups that commit crimes in the departments of Nariño and Cauca, neutralizing, in addition, one of their main modes of transport for the trafficking of illicit substances to international markets.
