Thanks to the prompt operation of the men of the National Army and their faith in Colombia program, the Tolimeno family was able to have a better quality of life after being hit by landslides in the Manuel Mejía neighborhood.
In the midst of the heavy damages caused by the phenomenon of La Niña in our country, a very humble family of the municipality of Lebanon, Tolima, was about to lose their home due to the removal of land caused by the low firmness of the land on which the Manuel Mejía neighborhood is found.
Upon learning of their situation, soldiers of the National Army, through the Comprehensive Action and Development Support Battalion No.5 and the Infantry Battalion No.16 Patriotas, worked for four days with pick and shovel, removing the land and debris that had fallen on one of the houses that was a few meters from the house of Mrs. Luz Mora, so the fence that protects and provides security to the inhabitants of the house was lifted.
In addition, due to the heavy movements of the land, the room where two minors, Luz Mora's granddaughters, live, was at a high risk of falling. This space of the house was demolished and again built by men of the National Army, accompanied by its Program Fe en Colombia.
“Thank you very much to the National Army and the Program Fe en Colombia for helping us, we had never received these aids. The truth is we didn't have the money to be able to secure the land, but after the landslide we had, it was a blessing, because all these soldiers helped us reorganize our little house,” said Marisol Mora, hit by the wave caused by rains in Libano, Tolima.
For his part, Major Ismael Enrique Mendoza Cáceres, commander of the Comprehensive Action Support Battalion No.5, ratified the commitment that members of the Military Forces have to work with and for the communities that need it the most: “We are always ready to help and favor those who need it the most; that's what we are for the Colombian people, an Army ready to build the social fabric and generate an comprehensive life for all.”
