Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan of the Military Forces and being custodians of the environment, the N.6 Air Combat Command., CACOM-6, of the Colombian Air Force carries out surveillance missions in the La Paya National Natural Park and the Serranía Chibiriquete National Natural Park, strategic areas for the preservation of the country's natural resources.
Due to their geographical positions and great diversity, these natural parks have become targets for mining and illegal logging, greatly harming the conservation of the environment. Given this, the airplanes crews and remotely piloted aircraft of the CACOM-6 carry out surveillance missions, contributing and supporting the institutions responsible for caring for and controlling the more than 10,000 thousand natural hectares.
This is how these overflights are intended to safeguard La Paya National Natural Park, in the department of Putumayo and the Serranía Chibiriquete National Natural Park which, due to its extension, comprises two departments, Caquetá and Guaviare.
