21 countries will participate in this competition, which is the largest special operations military exercise on the American continent.
More than 600 of the best military from 23 countries will meet in the Dominican Republic from June 12 in the largest and most demanding hemisphere competition.
During 10 days, more than 20 tests, maneuvers and ground military exercises will be carried out that will give scores that will ultimately define the best Special Forces men as continental champions.
The Colombian Military Forces are the current champions of this important and prestigious contest whose fundamental objective is to evaluate and measure the different skills and Resources, techniques, tactics of the members of the Military Forces in each of their nations in the fight against terrorism.
Fuerzas Comando has been held annually since 2004. In 17 versions Colombia has been crowned champion on 11 occasions, which demonstrates the preparation, prestige and differential training of the men and women who make up the Military Forces.
Eight members of the Military Forces (four of the Army, three of the Air Force and 1 of the Colombian Navy) will travel this weekend to the Dominican Republic in Central America, where they will have to adapt to the weather and land conditions to conduct the different competitions and maneuvers that will be held at the headquarters of the Special Forces Training Center in Sierra Prieta and the Las Calderas Naval Base.
Colombia will compete alongside members of the Military Forces of countries such as the United States, the host country Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Uruguay, Trinidad and Tobago, Ecuador, Suriname, Haiti, Panama, Guatemala, Peru, Honduras, Jamaica, Guyana, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, Belize, among others.
In this Forces Command, which was founded in 2004 by the United States Southern Command (Southcom), will have a nine-day military competition, which in turn is divided into two group exercises: 1. Assault teams and 2. High-precision shooting teams.
There the military will test their skills and abilities around their physical and mental resources for the handling of pistol and assault rifles and precision.
During the last days of the event, there will be an academic part in which the Ministry of Defense of the Dominican Republic will hold a conference for military personnel where issues of vital importance for hemispheric security will be addressed, such as emerging threats in current and future unconventional environments against which the nations of the Americas must fight.
