Soldiers and departmental relief agencies helped families in two neighborhoods that were hit by heavy rainfall in recent days.
Military engineers of the Fifth Brigade of the National Army, in coordination with the Departmental Risk Management Unit, carried out support work for the people of the Cinco de Enero and Galán neighborhoods, in Bucaramanga, Santander, given that the heavy rains of the last few days caused the sudden rising of the Rio de Oro.
The work carried out by the soldiers of the disaster attention and prevention platoon consisted of the construction of flood protection barriers on the riverbank, in order to mitigate the force of the water that has been moving with dragging material and directly erodes the land where the houses of these sectors are built. In the same way, the removal of the mud and debris that hit the roads and houses of several families in Girón was carried out, and humanitarian aid was distributed to the people.
The Military Engineers of the Fifth Brigade reaffirm their commitment to the community, providing in a timely manner all their Resources for the assistance in and management of emergencies that arise in the region; they in the same way invite families to remain attentive to the alerts that are issued, and immediately report any situation that puts their good physical condition at risk.
