The Colombian Aerospace Force sent a Boeing-737 aircraft of the military transport Air Command - CATAM in Bogotá, to move 15 tons of humanitarian aid arranged by the Government of Colombia through the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management - UNGRD, in support of those hit by Hurricane Otis in Mexico.
“Following the impact of Hurricane Otis on the Mexican coast of Guerrero, Colombia sent humanitarian aid to help, support and meet the most urgent needs of the inhabitants, in particular in the city of Acapulco. This act of solidarity reinforces the ties between Colombia and Mexico and demonstrates the mutual commitment to work together in critical moments for the well-being of the region,” said Olmedo López Martínez, Director of UNGRD.
The FAC-1219 aircraft, with the boxes of humanitarian aid, which include essential foods such as canned tuna, canned vegetable salad, sachets of dehydrated fruits, canned precooked beans and whole grain cookies, departed the ramp of the military transport Air Command in Bogotá at about 02:40 p.m., bound for Felipe Ángeles International Airport, Mexico City; this following the guidelines of the government of this country.
This humanitarian flight will last 4 hours from Colombia to Mexico. Once on the ground, the crew of the CATAM aircraft will unload the humanitarian aid and members of the UNGRD will give it to the Mexican government, who will be in charge of distributing it to the victims.
