The Colombian Sailors and navy men who made up the detachment of the Naval Institution paid tribute to Vice Admiral Juan Ricardo Rozo Obregón.
The position was handed over by Admiral Francisco Hernando Cubides Granados, who now assumed as the new Commander of the Colombian Military Forces.
In the parade ground of the General José María Córdova Cadet Military School, decorated with the national flag, Vice Admiral Juan Ricardo Rozo Obregón was recognized as the new Commander of the Colombian Navy, due to 34 years of service to the institution and the country.
Civil and military authorities, members of the Military Forces, family and partners gathered to participate in this solemn ceremony of relieving the Command of the Naval Institution, presided over by the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro Urrego and the Minister of National Defense, Iván Velásquez Gómez.
In the protocol ceremony, which was full of the gallantry and military protocol that characterize the Soldiers, Sailors, Aviators and Police Officers of the Homeland, Vice Admiral Rozo received the position from Admiral Francisco Hernando Cubides Granados, who assumes as the new Commander of the Military Forces, after serving as Commander of the Colombian Navy for about two years.
The detachment of the Naval Institution was made up of Colombian Sailors and navy men, who showed the naval traditions with their swords and weapons, paying honors to the new Commander of the Colombian Navy, Vice Admiral Juan Ricardo Rozo Obregón, in recognition of his experience and selfless work with the institution and the citizens, as well as his leadership, discipline and vocation of service.
The Officer, a professional in Administration Sciences of the Naval Cadet School Almirante Padilla, assumed command thanking God, his family and the more than 31 thousand men and women who protect the blue color of the flag throughout the length and breadth of the national territory, defending the maritime and river sovereignty of the Nation.
“In this new chapter that we are starting together, I invite each of you to dream big, feel proud to belong to this great, dear, respected and admired institution, because we are worthy heirs of the victorious legacy of the great Admiral José Padilla López,” the new Commander of the Colombian Navy highlighted with emotional words.
Vice Admiral Rozo begins his new course with the great challenge of continuing to forge a visionary and strategic Navy within the framework of the National Constitution, weakening transnational crime networks and working tirelessly for the well-being of communities, to continue contributing to the construction of a better country.
