The Thirteenth Brigade of Colombian National Army, deployed this morning, 90 more men in the locality of Chapinero to support the containment and extinction of the forest fire that continues to be active in the eastern hills of Bogotá.
In total, 120 soldiers of the 13th Brigade are in the area at this time, working jointly with the 80th Disaster Prevention and Assistance Battalion of the military engineers and coordinated with the Bogotá Fire Department, the National Police and the Colombian Civil Defense.
Since the first moment that the District System for the Prevention and Assistance of Emergencies requested the support of Colombian National Army in the extinction of forest fires in Bogotá, the 13th Brigade deployed 65 soldiers of the 15th Military Police battalion and the 13th Field Artillery battalion.
In the first case, 30 soldiers of the No. 13 Field Artillery Battalion supported the work of the Bogotá Fire Department in the south of the city, while another 35 members of the Military Forces of the No. 15 Military Police Battalion were transported to the eastern hills.
At the same time, the Chief of Staff of the 13th Brigade, Colonel Leonardo Ruiz, went to the Emergency Command and Control Center of the Disaster Assistance and Prevention Brigade, to coordinate the work of these 2 units of Colombian National Army in the localities of Usme and Chapinero.
Subsequently, he moved to the Unified Command Checkpoint in the Eastern hills, where he has coordinated the support of the troops with the emergency agencies of the district.
