During two days, about 2,600 cases were attended in different medical specialties, 33 surgical procedures were conducted and 165 glasses were distributed, which improved the quality of life of children, young people and older adults from both islands.
Adverse weather conditions were no impediment for more than 90 health professionals and volunteers to arrive at the islands of Providencia and Santa Catalina, aboard the ARC Almirante Tono Ship of the Colombian Navy, to provide free of charge medical assistance and provide donations to children, young people and elderly people of the insular department.
During two days, at the Junín School, about 2,600 cases were assisted, in specialties such as: optometry, mastology, family medicine, dentistry, maxillofacial surgery, dermatology, psychology and nutrition, within the framework of a development support activity led by the Colombian Navy, the Colombian Aerospace Force and Colombian National Army, in which smiles and beauty took on an essential role.
In addition, donations of medicines, backpacks, toiletries, school supplies, clothing and toys were made, which brought joy to dozens of families. This is how Ariany Stephens, a resident of the islands who benefited from this activity, expressed: “I was delighted that the brigade arrived because through them one can get all kinds of specialists without having to go to another island or go out to the city.”
Meanwhile, the Fundación Colombiana Ganadera - FUNDAGÁN, thanks to the logistical support provided by the Colombian Navy, distributed more than two tons of powdered milk to families living in Providencia and Santa Catalina, contributing to food security in this area of the country that is still in the process of reconstruction after the transit of Hurricane Iota.

The Military Forces in the insular department demonstrated once again the Unified operation of the State, by having the support of the Mayor's Office of Providence, the Departmental E.S.E., the Professional Officers of the Reserve, as well as the Juan N Corpas Foundation, Optómetras por Colombia, Colgate Palmolive, Totto, Eleganza Beauty Academy, Colsubsidio Drugstores, Minuto de Dios Foundation, Carolina Muñoz Foundation, Central Military Hospital, Bank of the Republic, Barber Shop Sanctuario, Humanitarian Payatives and Andromeda planetarium.
The Colombian Navy, through the Specific Command of San Andrés and Providencia and each of its components, reaffirms its social commitment, contributing to the comprehensive development and well-being of the island people, raizal and residents of the Archipelago. In the same way, it thanks the volunteers who participated in this activity that had a single mission: to bring development, health and well-being to the inhabitants of insular Colombia.
