The Colombian Navy rescued four men who had been adrift on board a boat, apparently due to engine failures, when they were fishing in the Utría National Natural Park, in the department of Chocó.
The search and rescue operation began when the Bahía Solano Port Authority received an alert of the situation from relatives, who obtained the latest coordinates of the ship. Immediately, a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Bahia Solano Coast Guard Station was deployed, which began the search in the area.
After approximately three hours, the Colombian sailors found the ship named The Black Beast with the four men and proceeded to transfer them to the municipality of Bahía Solano, where the naval health personnel provided medical assistance, finding them in good health.
According to what was stated by the fishermen, they would have set sail at the village El Valle in the early morning and after a few hours of navigation, the engine had faults near the Bahía Cupica sector. Despite their attempts, they did not solve the problem, so they contacted a relative, who notified the authorities, which led to find them.
So far this year, the Naval Institution has rescued 67 people alive in the Colombian Pacific, who suffered some emergency at sea.
