This illegal structure, valued at more than 85 million pesos, was used to process stolen petroleum. Rudimentary distillers and deep pools for the storage of petroleum were found by troops there, which generated damages to the water sources of the south of the country and to the fuel sector.
Thanks to the sustained military operations, troops have contributed to the protection of biodiversity and the strategic resources of the State. In one of these operations, the troops of the Twenty-Seventh Rainforest Brigade found in the rural area of Orito, Putumayo, an illegal refinery that was part of the illicit financial system of the Residual Organized Armed Group (GAO-r) Structure 48, known as Comandos de Frontera.
The military operation, aimed at neutralizing the illegal appropriation of this resource, was carried out in the rural area of the village Treinta y Cinco. There, personnel of the 27th Land Operations Battalion, in coordination with the National Police, found the refinery for the illicit distillation of petroleum.
In the place were found by troops 7 storage pools, each three meters long by six wide; 3 rudimentary distillers, a motor pump, an power generator, 12 plastic barrels, 710 meters of four-inch hose, 975 gallons of processed gasoline (known as pategrillo), 306 meters of metal pipes and other materials used for the connection of the refinery. All the material was destroyed in controlled conditions by the explosives and demolitions team (EXDE), without causing additional damage.
