The improvement of the security conditions in this area of the department, thanks to the territorial recovery promoted by the troops, has led to the initiation of cell phone reconnection projects, the distribution of humanitarian aid and the destruction of 360 explosive devices that put the inhabitants at risk.
The operations in pursuit of the comprehensive security of the inhabitants of El Plateado that have been carried out through the Operation Perseo of the Military Forces, continue to propitiate changes not only for a territory free of the operations of illegal armed groups but in the same way in the well-being of the inhabitants. This extensive military deployment, which includes the urban area and the upper parts of the village, has led to, in a few days of the implementation of Operation, expel armed actors, and with it the implementation of social transformation initiatives led by the national and departmental governments.
This is how, with the accompaniment of the troops, the technological reconnection of the village began through the reinstallation of cell phone antennas that will lead its inhabitants to be constantly contacted. This milestone, thanks to the military intervention, is a step towards the dignity and rebirth of the people who had been without a telephone signal for several years, a condition exploited by illegal groups to isolate the area and thus maintain the production and marketing of narcotics and thus exercise control over the community.
On the other hand, in the matter of the military operation, the tracking tasks to find explosive devices have been incessant since day one of Operation Perseo. Since this date, Colombian National Army's Explosive Ordnance Handling Groups (Marte) have destroyed in controlled conditions 362 ordnance that put the inhabitants at risk, being in spaces such as the school, cemetery, access roads and even houses in the village.
The presence of these elements is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, since the use of these improvised explosive devices violates the prohibition against using means and methods of warfare that cause injuries or unnecessary suffering.
Finally, the deployment of security operations on the access road to the village recently led to the safe and secure land arrival of 80 tons of humanitarian aid with basic necessities, as well as school kits that will alleviate the situation of families hit by intimidation and displacement generated by residual structures that seek to stay in the territory.
