The Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Caquetá is working for personal freedom and the protection of the assents of civilians, providing the necessary security conditions to live peacefully.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan, troops of the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Caquetá with the support of the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Huila, carried out a military operation against extortion in the Alejandría village of the municipality of Garzón, in the department of Huila, where there were close combats against alleged members of the finance group of the Rodrigo Cadete structure of the FARC dissidents under the command of the individual known as Tornillo, leaving as a result the death of a member of this organized armed group and the liberation of the person who was there against his will for ransom.
Two long weapons, short weapons, three antipersonnel mines, seven mines with an activation system, nine grenades, abundant ammunition of different calibers, communication equipment, 700 extortive pamphlets alluding to this group, 50 so called meeting invitations made for people from different productive groups in the region and military accessories materials for the exclusive use of the Colombian Military Forces were found by troops at the scene of the events.
According to military intelligence, these individuals were being summoning members of the Community Action Boards of the area, from whom they collected money extorted, generating intimidation to the inhabitants of this region of the department of Huila.
During the clashes, two of our soldiers were injured, and they were immediately evacuated to the municipality of Garzón, to be assisted in an assistance center, where they are recovering satisfactorily.
Our Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) continues to give important results against extortion, weakening the illicit activities of these organized armed groups that commit crimes in the departments of Caquetá and Huila.
In the same way, we sent the invitation to people to denounce the problem of extortion on the National Line 147 of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) and to inform about these situations that restrict the financial freedom of the inhabitants.
