It is presumed that this fuel would be used as precursor for the production of illicit substances.
During two river control operations, the Colombian Navy seized about 10 thousand gallons of illegal fuel, in the Bay of the Special District of Buenaventura and in the Middle Baudó.
The first result was possible at a checkpoint in the San Antonio estuary, of the Buenaventura Special District, where crew members of Navy Infantry River Battalion No.24 inspected a boat, in which 6,120 gallons of DIESEL-type fuel and 300 gallons of gasoline were traveling.
Upon reviewing the documentation for the transportation of the fuel, it was determined that the individual only had authorization to carry 4,000 gallons.
According to intelligence information, this fuel would allegedly be used in laboratories for the production of coca base in the rural area of Buenaventura, where the Armando Group commits crimes organizing Residual E-6 Jaime Martínez
Nearly 10 thousand gallons of illegal fuel found
The second operation took place in the village of San José de Querá, in the municipality of Medio Baudó - Chocó department, where troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 22 found 3,540 gallons of processed gasoline, which were being transported by the Baudó River, without the certificate for the transportation of fuel.
It is presumed that this illegal fuel was planned to be used for the production of coca paste base, by the illegal structures that commit crimes in the Colombian Pacific.
The 9,960 gallons of fuel found were put into custody of the Police of Buenaventura and Bajo Baudó.
