With the finding of 1.4 tons of this drug, more than 48 million dollars stopped entering the finances of transnational crime organizations.
In a new blow to drug trafficking in the department of Valle del Cauca, units of the Colombian Navy within the framework of comprehensive maritime security and control operations, intercepted a boat with three individuals on board, who were planning to transport more than 1.4 tons of cocaine hydrochloride to Central America.
At the moment of carrying out search on the boat, the military personnel evidenced that in addition to transporting several packages, apparently with narcotics, the boat had a water inlet and was sinking. Faced with this situation, the Colombian Sailors proceeded to take the personnel and equipment to the Coast Guard unit. Later, the boat in which the men were traveling sank.
On board the surface unit, the three individuals, two Colombians and an Ecuadorian, were taken, as well as the illegal merchandise, to the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura, where the judicial authorities carried out the relevant tests, determining that it was cocaine hydrochloride with a weight of 1,434 kilograms. The individuals were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office for prosecution.
With this finding, the entry of more than 48 million dollars into the financial structures of drug trafficking organizations, the distribution of more than 3.5 million doses on the streets of the world and the death by overdose of 14 people were prevented.
So far this year, the Naval Institution has found more than 175 tons of narcotics in the Colombian Pacific, of which 138 were cocaine hydrochloride.
