Our four-legged partners are fundamental in the different tasks that we carry out in Colombian National Army, such as search and detection of explosive and narcotic substances, security of facilities, search and rescue, military and humanitarian demining, among others. Therefore, we understand the value that dogs have, because we know first-hand their resources, their nobility and the value of their company.
Colombian National Army, through the Military Engineers, joined to help the Milagrinos Foundation, which for more than 9 years has been serving as a shelter for puppies that have suffered human neglect and abuse. Currently, it is in charge of more than 250 puppies, most of them geriatric and with disabilities. This foundation helps them in their rehabilitation process and in the search for a home for life.
For 15 days, 12 soldiers and a non-commissioned officer worked tirelessly to improve the Foundation's locations. In this way, to provide these furry ones with a better quality of life. There they carry out the leveling and veneering of floors, maintenance of the main structure, casting of beams for access and enclosure with security mesh. Other of the tasks carried out were oriented to the cleaning and organization of the facilities.
General painting, beautification and construction of houses for the puppies were carried out, in addition to a rustic kitchen where the volunteers will be able to make preparations for the furry ones with low weight. We are working for the protection and defense of life. Our mission as soldiers is to serve and help the most vulnerable.
