Due to the urgent need for assistance in a higher level hospital, a pregnant teenager was transferred from the island of Providencia to San Andrés, in a Caravan C208-B ambulance of the Caribbean Air Group, thanks to the coordination with the National Personnel Recovery Center of the Colombian Air Force (FAC).
The 17-year-old girl, who presented high-risk complications in her gestation phase, was stabilized during the flight by the medical staff on board, who prioritized her health. Upon landing in San Andres, an ambulance was waiting to transfer her to Clarence Lynd Newball Memorial Departmental Hospital.
The transfer was executed in a timely manner by military doctors of the Colombian Air Force with vast experience in this type of missions in the insular region of the country; it is worth noting that the woman in the same way had the constant accompaniment of one of her relatives, who provided important emotional support.
