Within the framework of the Ayacucho Operations Plan and following the strategic line of protection for the inhabitants, troops of the Fourth Brigade found three workshops for the manufacture of improvised explosive devices in an inter-institutional operation.
The finding of this explosive material, which allegedly belonged to the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, of structures 18 and 36, was made in the village of El Morro, in the municipality of San Andrés de Cuerquia, Antioquia. Soldiers of the Infantry Battalion No. 10 Coronel Atanasio Girardot, due to receiving information about the existence of a place where explosives were produced and stored, arrived in the area together with judicial authorities. Three clandestine explosive manufacturing workshops were found by troops, the laboratories operated under the facade of a carpentry workshop.
During the operation, the troops accompanied by the judicial authorities found 95 anti-personnel mines in the process of manufacture and 31 ready to be planted, in addition to 554 springs for activating anti-personnel mines, a mobile device equipped as a detonator, screws used as shrapnel, three explosives known as Chinese hats, a motorcycle, three computers, a short weapon with its components, military accessory material for the exclusive use of the Military Forces, meters of detonating cord and other elements for the manufacture of explosives.
All the material found was taken into custody of the authorities for their prosecution process.
It should be noted that this terrorist organization manufactured explosives intended to be launched from drones, since among the material found was a prototype rocket similar to others found in different regions of the country.
In addition, some of these explosives have the potential to seriously hit the physical condition of people and even cause massive damage, with the capacity to impact a platoon of 36 soldiers. This arsenal represents not only a threat to the Military Forces, but in the same way to the inhabitants, which constitutes a clear violation of human rights and violation of international humanitarian law.
