According to the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, the heroin would be sold through 170,000 doses in the international illegal market, whose valuation would exceed 1,000 million pesos.
Within the framework of military operations aligned to the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, troops of the Special Energy and Road Battalion No. 20, unit a of the Twenty-Third Brigade of Colombian National Army, in coordination with the National Police, carried out the finding and controlled destruction of a heroin production laboratory in the vicinity of the village Granadillo, rural area of the municipality of Buesaco, department of Nariño.
Thanks to information provided by intelligence work, knowledge of the laboratory's location in the sector was obtained. In this way, the planning of the military operation to find the structure began.
With this planning, the troops were inserted to the place and, after a patrol operation, they found the complex, which contained 101 kilograms of poppy latex and 7.89 kilograms of heroin.
It is estimated that the narcotic would have an approximate cost of one billion pesos and would be taken to the border area for illegal commercialization. The material was put into custody of the authorities.
