Through this operation, the Colombian Navy prevented the distribution of two million doses on the streets of the world.
During an operation against the transnational crime of drug trafficking, in a mouth of the Pacific Ocean, the Colombian Navy seized 880 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, which were hidden in the double bottom of a boat.
Units of Navy Infantry Battalion No.23 of the Colombian Navy, attached to the Joint Task Force Titan, in the village of Virudó, in Pizarro Bajo Baudó, detected a ship named KAIA, crewed by two individuals, who upon noticing the activity of the authorities started to escape, taking the boat to the shore and leaving it abandoned.
During the inspection of the boat, the Colombian Sailors found a double bottom, which is why it was towed to Bahía Solano, department of the department of Chocó. Once ashore, the military personnel checked the boat, finding 879 packages apparently with illicit substances.
Subsequently, the staff of the Technical Body of Research - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the office of the Prosecutor General of the Nation, conducted Test Identification Preliminary Approved – PIPH, which left positive result for cocaine hydrochloride with a weight of 880 kg. The material was put into custody of the authorities.
It is presumed that this illegal merchandise would belong to the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo and would be destined for Central America. By means of this operation, the Naval Institution prevented the entry of approximately US$ 30 million to the finances of this criminal organization.
