Within the framework of World Environment Day, the Thirteenth Brigade of Colombian National Army reaffirms its commitment to the protection of natural resources, with the planting this year of 36,636 seedlings of native specimens in Bogotá and Cundinamarca.
"This year, in an effort to preserve our environment and promote a responsible environmental culture, the Thirteenth Brigade of Colombian National Army, has accompanied and carried out the planting of 36,636 seedlings in Cundinamarca, in coordination with environmental institutions and authorities,” said Brigadier General Rodolfo Morales Franco, Commander of the Thirteenth Brigade of Colombian National Army.
Following the guidelines of the Ayacucho Plan and the environmental policy of Colombian National Army, the units of the 13th Brigade not only carry out security and defense tasks of strategic areas such as the Sumapaz Paramo and the Chuza and El Guavio reservoirs, but in the same way protect and preserve the invaluable natural heritage of our nation.
"Environmental protection is a shared task that requires everyone's work. That is why, of the nursery of the No 10 Mechanized Cavalry Group, we renew our commitment to work together to ensure a sustainable future for next generations,” said the Commander of the 13th Brigade.
General Morales reported that his unit has 13 environmental managers certified by the SENA, and 12 nursery soldiers certified and trained by the botanical garden of Bogotá. "The Thirteenth Brigade has 3 High and Medium mountain nurseries that aim to contribute to planting, restoration and reforestation processes."
In addition to planting seedlings, Colombian National Army has carried out numerous reforestation and conservation campaigns, involving communities and encouraging citizen participation.
"In this way, we fight climate change and protect our natural resources,” the senior official highlighted.
