The military operations against crimes that attack personal freedom in the region left five people arrested.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Plan, troops of the Santander Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), in coordination with the Gaula of the Magdalena Medio Police, arrested five people allegedly members of two common crime groups specialized in extortion in Barrancabermeja, Santander.
In the first operation there was the arrest of three people who would belong to the gang known as Los Ñongos. Subsequently, the authorities found two more individuals, alleged members of the Los de la M group.
According to the investigations, these people were allegedly carrying out monetary extortions against merchants, ranchers and other productive groups in the special district and Puerto Wilches, as well as in the municipalities of San Pablo and Cantagallo, in the department of Bolívar.
These people were put into custody of the judicial authority to face charges for extortion and association to commit crimes.
With operations like these, we are working to dismantle groups that attack personal freedom, restoring security and tranquility to families in the region. Colombian National Army will continue to work together to achieve environments for ensuring the good living condition of the inhabitants of northeastern Colombia.
