The elements they used would cost more than 2,000 million pesos. It is estimated that they extracted about 3,600 grams of gold monthly.
Within the framework of military operations against the illicit exploitation of mining deposits framed within the Ayacucho Joint Strategic Campaign Plan -Tiempo 2- in the rural area of C茅rtegui, Choc贸 department, the Military Forces, with the support of the Police, found and dismantled two illegal mining production units, with machinery and elements with which this crime against the environment was carried out.
In the place were intervened equipment known as Brazilian dragons (dredges), industrial engines and industrial motor pumps, which had an approximate cost of $2,500,000,000 COP. These elements were used for the extraction of alluvial gold, which had an estimated production of 3,600 grams of gold per month, with a cost of about $890,000,000 COP.
In this way, the illicit activities of the GAO Clan del Golfo are hit in more than $500,000,000 COP as a result of the collection of illegal money.
The illicit exploitation of minerals through these elements has been carried out without having the legal mining title, stipulated in Law 685 of 2001, of the Mining Code, which has hit not only natural resources, but the well-being and security of the families who live and legally benefit of these water sources, with elements that deteriorate the vegetation layer and pollute the water sources of the region.
With these results, it was possible to significantly reduce the environmental impact, in addition to hitting the logistical and criminal networks of illegal groups that commit crimes in this area of the Colombian Pacific.
In that region, the military forces strengthened the security operation with the aim of continuing to find these illegal mining units.
