In a military operation it was possible to damage by more than 5000 million pesos the finances of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, which aims to weaken illicit activities and deny sources of financing to illegal groups, soldiers of the Special Energy and Road Battalion No. 4, of the Fourth Brigade of Colombian National Army, in a joint operation with the Colombian Aerospace Force and in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics directorate of the National Police, arrived at the village Confusas, municipality of San Luis, in the department of Antioquia, where thanks to aerial reconnaissance platforms that have high-tech electro-optical systems and the intelligence of the Army and Police, it was possible to find and destroy a cocaine laboratory of cocaine hydrochloride.
Thus, it was possible to coordinate this important work conducted by the State institutions. This military operation was carried out after more than a month of follow-up and aerial reconnaissance with aircraft of the 5th Air Combat Command. The soldiers and police officers after entering this area of difficult access, and guided from the air, arrive at where this structure was, made of 21 constructions that served as a laboratory for production coca base paste to cocaine hydrochloride.
As a result of this operation, it was possible to find 743 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, 182 kilograms of coca paste base, 1200 kilograms of solid precursors, 5646 gallons of liquid precursors and the destruction of two distillation towers, precision scales, scales, industrial furnaces, microwave ovens, motor pumps, vacuum packing machine, two air compressors with a capacity of 120 liters, metal molds and a press with a capacity for 25 tons.
This success of the military operation significantly reduces the illicit income for the GAO Clan del Golfo structure Edwin Román Velázquez Valle and the Substructure Pacificadores de Samaná by more than 5200 million pesos, who use these illegal incomes to obtain weapons, explosives and other elements to attack the Military Forces and the inhabitants.
