The drug would belong to the Santiago Lozada Group of the Residual Organized Armed Group Central General Staff of the FARC.
In the framework of operations conducted by units of the Colombian Navy, Colombian National Army and the Colombian Aerospace Force, 158 kilograms of marijuana were found by troops, which were being transported on board a ship through the waters of Caño Chupave, near the municipality of Cumaribo, in the department of Vichada.
Thanks to the investigation and follow-up work carried out by the intelligence of the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Aerospace Force, a River Operations Group of the Orinoquia Naval Force found the suspicious boat when traveling along this river artery of the Orinoquia region.
Immediately, the military units initiated the river interception procedure, however, the crew members on board the ship, noticing the work of the navy me, started to escape, taking the boat to a shore and subsequently abandoning it.
After securing the area, the members of the Military Forces carried out the inspection of the boat, finding inside three sacks with 179 rectangular packages apparently with illicit substances, so they were taken to Barrancominas - Guainía, where units of the Judicial Police - SIJIN carried out the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, which left positive result for 158 kilograms of marijuana.
The boat, the communications equipment and the drug that would cost more than one million dollars in the international illegal market, were put into custody of officials of the Judicial Police and the Attorney General's Office for custody and subsequent destruction, according to current regulations.
